According to their website, “every pair of KASHO shears is created through careful design and engineering with advanced materials and heat-treatment technology – and the blending of an integrated manufacturing process with skilful workmanship which measures up to the unrelenting standards passed through generations of the Japanese Samurai sword smithies.”

These professional shears are made from two different stainless steel alloys that meet the Japanese demands for quality control.

My landlord wants to deduct the following from my security deposit:
$200 to pay a yardman to weed, rake and mulch the yard – I trimmed, mowed, cut back bushes, etc while I lived there and had the yard professional cut and trimmed before I left;
$250 to bleach and clean brick path and wood deck;
$250 to replace control pad and fuse of jacuzzi, although we barely used it at all and did nothing to cause it not to work – she is blaming my dad for installing a light in our basement stairs (there was none and it was literally pitch black to walk down, barely lit even in the day);
late fees for 8 months rent (out of the 14 I lived there) because I paid them bi-monthly, which they agreed to but now are saying they can charge me a late fee for;
replacement of a fan blade – which I replaced;
replacement of a window shear – which I replaced;
installation of a new stove top – the stove top and cost to repair were already paid, I just wasn’t able to get the stove top in before I moved (i moved in Oct and the stove top has not yet been replaced).

I feel like I’m getting fleeced! There are some normal wear and tear items – such as the deck – why would I have to bleach it? and the yard – which I took care of and my neighbors can attest to since I spent nearly every Sat. out there working.

do i need to get a lawyer?
I live in NC by the way
I have lots of emails from my landlord. i guess we’ll be going to court!

I’d tell him to go F*ck herself – most of that is regular maintenance, that the owner is responsible for – what does the lease say – I wouldn’t pay any more than what she already has as your security deposit and I would take her to small claims court for anything she’s trying to claim – I don’t see one item that looks legit –

My hands always get really sore after cutting my maltese for ~4 hours. They are tiny and my fingers hurt. Can someone recommend a type of scissor that would be more comfortable, or even a specific brand? I don’t have a huge budget, so something mid-range or low-range would be best. (<$100)

And my hands are massive. I’ve never met anyone with larger hands. I’m 6’4", 260 lbs, size 15 shoes, etc. :-/

The last time I asked this question, someone answered it with "have a professional do it". I want to be clear that I am just asking what type/brand of scissors to purchase, not grooming my own dog is not an acceptable option!

You need to buy shears from a place or a person that will let you TRY ON the shears. The finger holes in shears are made for a variety of finger sizes. You can find a good pair of shears with comfortable finger holes.

The best place to buy from would be a grooming supply store with a big selection where you could be properly fitted BUT most people don’t live near grooming supply stores. The second best place would be a tie between going to a dog show and trying on shears at the booths to see if they have or will order a pair that fits you… …or locating a shear sharpener that also sells groomer’s shears. To find a sharpener that sells grooming shears, and not all sharpeners do, call all of the places in your general area and ask for the phone number of the sharpener(s) that service the shops. If that sharpener doesn’t sell shears, he or she may be able to put you in touch with someone who does. My third choice would be to contact some place such as Ryan’s Pet Supply (www.ryanspet.com) or Pet Edge (www.petedge.com) and ask them about shears to fit your fingers.

In all cases, have an idea of what you can pay in advance. All shear makers make a wide variety of quality levels in their shears, from very expensive and very good to pretty cheap and not going to last forever (at all). If you’re only doing the one dog, you could probably get by with some of the cheaper shears. Cheaper shears go dull faster and sometimes will fall apart after a few years.
