cutting my own fringe/bangs?

i’m getting a short full fringe (bang for you americans? lol) soon, but I’m thinking about when it starts to grow past my eyes and it needs trimmed, i could do it myself the odd time. Is it bad for my hair to use normal scissors or do i need to use professional scissors? will my hair fall out if i don’t cut my hair using a specific technique? i really don’t want to mess up my hair or stop it growing or whatever.. thanks :}

when i do my own fringe, i just make sure i have a sharp pair of straight scissors. Also don’t just cut straight across, cut at a slight angle otherwise it will look stupid lol, if you’re cutting it for the first time, cut little bits of at a time to make sure you dont cut too much and regret it :/ it took me ages the first time lol

ps o yeh you cant STOP you’re hair growing! you might just cut too much off

I cut my own hair. If you have a store that sells hair cutting scissors, you can get them there for like $12 (not sure how much in other currency, but not a lot). Normal scissors make it harder to cut your hair, they’re just not designed right, and it’s easier to mess up using them. You can also look into using a hair razor, it’s really easy to cut your own bangs with one of those.

Your hair won’t "fall out". The main thing you need to be careful of when trimming fringe, is not to trim too much off. Fringe will tend to "pop up" when trimmed, and appear shorter than you might have intended. Always start by trimming less than you think you need to. You can always go back and trim more if you need to, but if you trim off too much to start with, then you have to wait for it to grow out.

What I would do, is when you go to the hairdresser to have the initial haircut, ask him/her to show you what to do if you need to trim your fringe between haircuts.

(Oh…and I would spring for a decent pair of haircutting scissors. Regular ones aren’t designed for that, and generally won’t do as nice a job as scissors that ARE designed for cutting hair.)

The scissors you use don’t matter, your hair won’t fall out. My advice is to be very careful, a few years ago i cut my own fringe, and well yeah i regretted it a LOT. Way too high and far back, but it grew back like it does. Don’t cut straight across your fringe, cup upwards, if you get me? Turn the scissors vertical and cut the amount you want to off, this way you can’t go wrong or wonky or weird(:
