They keep cutting and cutting so that is why you have so much hair being cut off. When you trim your ends, you are only supposed to trim off 1/8th or 1/4th inch of your hair. Why ditch the healthy hair? Be sure to use a really good conditioner every day. I'm sure you know that split ends result because the oil from your scalp cannot migrate down the length of your hair shaft before your next shampoo if your hair is very long. The ends get dried out and split easily. I've done that before and I sooo regret it because my hair wasn't even. You may not think that cutting your hair will do that much to the way your hair looks, but trust me it will.
