hairdressers always cut too much of...

…but I desperately need a trim because
the ends of my hair are so dead but
there's no way I'm going to a hairdressers because
they always cut too much off no matter what I say
and I can't cut the dead ends off myself
because you need professional sharp
scissors because regular ones only make
your hair worse.
what should I do???
I want my hair to grow.

A trim is 1/2 inch normally. You need to show them with your fingers exactly how much you want off. Let them know you have issue with other stylists taking off too much & you need their assurance they won't.

I have the same problem. They ALWAYS take like an inch or two more than i want off.

Instead of telling them you just want a trim tell them you only want just half an inch off the bottom. That way they know exactly what to take off. Plus that's the amount to cut off when you just want a trim.

show them how much you want cut (actually show more length than what you really want) I do that all the time esp. if i know they will cut it too short.

If you tell them to cut the dead ends off then that is what they do. They usually know how much to cut off for dead ends and if you have layers they have to take more off. I don't think you realize they are just getting all the dead ends off. Go to a different one if you don't like your current one.

Well you have a couple of options here… You can either go into a beauty supply store (like Sally's or something similar) and buy a pair of professional scissors or you can go in and ask that the stylist cut an even smaller length of hair than you normally ask (like if you normally ask for an inch off, ask for a half inch off)… That way it should end up exactly where you want it.

Honey! Here are 2 options:

Find another hairdresser that will listen to your needs and what you are paying for or go to beauty supply store and buy your self some good scissors.

What i do becuase i have been growing my hair to be long i just trim it my self and don't have to worry about paying some one that's not going to listen.
